Should the federal health care delivery system cover undocumented aliens?

Health care costs have risen at a higher rate than inflation. This point has not been subject to debate. The cause of the high rate of increase has been attributed, at least partially, to those people who lack health insurance. The argument is that such people will forego preventative health care until they become severely ill, at which point they will go to hospital emergency rooms to seek (morally- and legally-required) care at the most expensive cost to the rest of us who pay (via taxes, insurance premiums, and/or co-pays) into the health care system. By providing universal public health care delivery, advocates claim that much of the additional cost will be offset by a reduction in health care costs when those who are now insured via public subsidy will now benefit from preventative care. If there is a net cost reduction to be realized via preventative health care, then shouldn't public health care delivery supporters agree to provide this public plan to undocumented immigrants? After all, uninsured undocumented immigrants are still legally and morally entitled to hospital emergency care, so the rest of us pay via taxes for those services. So if the system stands to realize cost savings by covering uninsured citizens, wouldn't those supposed savings be increased by covering undocumented aliens? Why hasn't anyone proposed this??

No they shouldn't....If they were to be covered, then they should be citizens. IF they want the insurance, they should become illegal, maybe some ppl willl actually become legal then..ha.

No, and CNN among others has shown that illegal aliens are not covered in the proposed House plan from Congressman Waxman's committee. I do have an idea, however, that might be useful for preventing them from simply showing up at emegency rooms and getting care that raises premiums or costs for American citizens: Require a pool of money from their country of origin and/or send the health care bills to their countries of origin. If countries like Mexico (a major offender) do not control their borders, they should bear the expense of having their citizens come here and make use of the services we provide (schools, health care, and any other program). I am also in favor of fining company owners who hire illegal immigrants for the first offense, but then putting their company in receivership for the second offense while the owner is imprisoned and the illegal immigrants are sent home (the fare paid for by their government). If it costs their government enough, perhaps they will push harder to prevent the migration.

As it's written now, illegal aliens are not covered in the proposed bill, and I don't think that they should be. Currently, ANYONE is entitled to life-saving medical care, but nothing more, whether they're citizens, legal residents, or "undocumented" aliens. Anyone who wants to be part of the regular non-emergency system needs to become a legal resident or citizen.
