I want to add asparagus into my diet for the health benefits, but I don't even know how to prepare it or what to season it with. Any suggestions?

I buy fresh asparagus and dont season it with much except a couple pats of butter. What I usually do is have it with something like lemon pepper chicken, and the "run off" juice from the meat ( whatever it is) add more flavor to the asparagus. Its bland like green beans, so its good to eat with a meat that has some spice in it. Canned asparagus.. believe it or not.. I like to eat cold and just pop them in my mouth like candy. (or like a salad side dish) I think it tastes more refreshing cold, than the typically hot. Its a personal preference but give it a try with a piece or two. For prepping: - Snap the ends off - they're tough and woody - If really thick, I usually peel them a bit as the exterior can be tough. For cooking, here are some of my favorite ways to have them: - Season blanched spears with italian salad dressing and grill on the BBQ - sautee in butter, and season with some salt, pepper and grate some parmasean cheese on top - sautee in butter, season with salt & pepper, and finish with a squeeze of lemon juice - sautee in butter, season with a splash of soy sauce and sesame seeds - place in a baking dish, season with oil, balsamic vinegar, salt & pepper and bake until golden - take 2-3 spears, wrap with proscuitto, or similar thin sliced ham and fry lightly until the ham crisps up - Buy a can of cream of asperagus soup and add in extra asperagus that's been cut into small pieces and top with grated cheddar cheese
