so my kids are 8 12 and 15 i need healthy snacks for them when they get home from school. They are always hungry so they usually take whatever they find first. They are eatingg full bagels and creamcheesee, cups ofcereall,pop tartss, chips, and crackers. I need help to get them good tasting but healthy food i can't watch them eat these unhealthy foods everyday.
try some baked chips, fat free ham, cheese, and turkey on whole wheat bread the kids might like the whole grain made with hunny. And make sure there is some fruits around
Hey.. couple of good healthy snacks.. Nuts (unsalted), you can get like rice snacks and even breadsticks which are tasty but healthy. Popcorn (unsalted and unsweeted) just regular is healthy believe it or not. Low fat Yogurt. Raisens. Fruits. I know they might not be in to these, as they are nowhere near as tasty as the stuff you listed, but try it, and others, i'm sure somthing in there they will enjoy.
When I get home from school, I usually have a small cup of chocolate or strawberry milk and either a banana or a granola bar. It's been my "routine" to do this pretty much every day since my freshman year, and I'm pretty healthy. I've ran marathons and I play tennis nearly everyday. Chewy peanuty granola bars are the best :D
I'd say that you can do a number of things, many suggestions away from the highly carbohydrate loaded treats! You can do a number of veggies, (carrots, celery, radishes, broccoli, etc) with a little bit of light ranch or yogurt dip, whole grain toast or whole grain bagel with non-fat cream cheese or skinny cow wedge cheese, non-buttered popcorn, roasted kale chips w/ a little olive oil and garlic w/parmesan. Sliced apples, pears, a plum, maybe some strawberries w/light whipped cream....so many options! Browse all recipes.com if you're looking for different ideas. I hope that helps!!!!!! =)
Try: a piece of bread with peanut butter and bananas, or fruits (naturally tasty) like grapefruit or pears, apples, oranges. when i am sick and get a sweet tooth i make a smoothie its really good for every day though and its really filling, it's Bananas strawberry's and frozen orange juice try adding your own ideas to it like Cherries, blueberry's, or even apples. you can either use frozen fruits or add ice to make it cold.
